Droo-ro 2004 - Day 5

Yesterdays results (including my in-laws....there should be no discrimination on the blog that comes from a northerly direction!!) are:

Group D:

Lemon Puff 3-7 Jammy Dodger
Digestive 3-7 Abbey Crunch

So now we return to group A for the second set of fixtures:

Hobnob v Malted Milk
Bourbon v Shortbread

Can the Hobnob and Bourbons secure their place in the quarter finals or is a shock on the cards.....as that irritating geordie geezer says "You Decide!"

  • Bit gutted for the lemon puff there. Poor little blighter.

Anyway to today's matches. We have the hobnob v the malted milk. Now to me the malted milk is no contender, the buttery oatyness of the hobnob is always a winner. The chocolate variety makes it even more so, I don't think that mr Jollie is telling the truth so I won't be swung by that. The hobnob is victorious.

The bourbon/shortbread. You'd have thought this would be an easy one. Now in my voting I am presuming we are talking like walkers shortbread and not those cheap ass rectangular ones.. yack! The bourbon falls into the regular biscuit category, whereas if you take the shortbread in it's best format it is classed a luxury biscuit to me... the sort you get out at Christmas, when you don’t have visitors round that might eat them! They also come in proper chocolate covering rather than chocolate cream and that is what finally swings the vote for me.

    So Hobnob and shortbread.

  • Hobnob and Bourbon, ta.

  • There is more chance of hell freezing over than there is of me voting for malted milk so the hobnob wins with one hand tied behind it's back

The other one is trickier as Ann said, but the Bourbon is my tip to win the whole tournament so the bourbon it has to be!!

  • Abby Crunch?! How the FUCK can Abby Crunch beat Digestive?! I've never even heard of the buggers before?! Stewards enquiry! I demand a Stewards enquiry!!! Its match rigging from that shady Scott lot! Bloody Darlo Maffia init?!

Well for what its worth: Hobnob and Shortbread...not that I have any faith in the system anymore. I feel like Terry during Eurovision!

  • What! What! What! A ginger variety? Where may I purhase a packet of said biscuit.

  • So...the Abby Crunch doesn't even exist anymore?! Then surely the game is forfeit?! You can't compare a biscuit still in mass production to one that hasn't been tasted by human lips for 3yrs!

Digestive goes through on a technicality...seeing as how the other one is a myth!

Oh and seeing as how we're doing this voting by proxy thing. I've disgussed it with my parents and offered samples of todays biscuits to my biscuit mad cat, and all of us are in agreement with whatever it was I'd chose earlier...

...thinking about it I may have asked my mate in New York what she prefered (Hello Sam!) oh and some of her friends who just happened to be with her at the time maybe, and they all agree with me, so thats about another 5...maybe 10, call it 15, hell round it up to 50 thats a nice number. So we're sorted an extra 100 votes each for Hobnob and Shortbread...thanks.

P.s. I take it we're not doing anything this weekend then? And I brought Family Guy Season 1 with me too. Hmph!
