Droo-rovision - Catch Up Day

Sorry there was no result or new match yesterday....Edinburgh left me absolutley cream crackered!!!

OK to catch up.....

The results for Group A:

Crowded House 2-3 Bon Jovi
Travis 3-2 Guns N Roses

So the final table for Group A means that Bon Jovi go through as group winner, joined by Crowded House as runner up.

To get us back on schedule I will put two groups of matches on to be voted on today to conclude groups B and C. The two teams to go through in each group have already been decided...your votes will effect who finishes top of the group.

Group B:

Rolling Stones v Aerosmith
U2 v REM

Group C:

The Beatles v Barenaked Ladies
Oasis v Coldplay

I will post the results for all of these matches and the next fixtures tommorrow at around midday.

Normal service has been resumed!!

  • Group B:

Aerosmith are basically a Rolling Stones clone but they will never be as good as the original so I'll have to go with The Stones

The second match is quite a tricky choice...both bands are equal on so many levels but I think I'd just give Bono and The Edge the edge....do you see what I did there!!

    Group C:

As much as I love the Barenaked Ladies I'm afraid that this is a total no contest for me....it has to be The Beatles all the way.

Match two is also not even close..Coldplay are kind of cool but they are simply not as cool as Oasis...Chris Martin can't even hit photographers in as cool a manner as Liam!!

To summerise....The Stones and U2......The Beatles and Oasis

  • Group B:

Rolling Stones v Aerosmith - I have no strong feelings about either band. Both are fronted by big-lipped, rather ugly frontmen. Both play fairly similar music. I own no albums by either band. But, I reckon the Stones are the cooler of the two (hey, Keith Richards cannot be killed by conventional weapons!), so I'll have to go with The Rolling Stones. (Ooh, I just remembered, Sarah's dad had the Stripped album in his car, and I really liked that, so that confirms it.)

U2 v REM - These two aren't going throguh anyway, but I too would have to gice U2 the Edge.

    Group C:

The Beatles v Barenaked Ladies - I'm going to have to go with Barenaked Ladies in this match, based purely on number of CDs owned, live shows seen and being better. Plus, I don't believe The Beatles ever sang a song about monkey stationary, which must clinc it. (And I'd love it if The Beatles only got through in second place in the group.)

Oasis v Coldplay - another "doesn't matter" match, which means both eams will field a weaker line-up of songs, saving their star players for the upcoming gigs in other competitions. That means no Wonderwall for Oasis, and no, erm, big song from Coldplay. hmm, I think that means Oasis have to win.
